Arizona's Second Annual Nanotechnology Symposium was held at Scottsdale Community College on 23 March 2007.
Symposium sponsors had tables setup in the lobby of SCC's Performing Arts Center.

Dr. Matt Kim, chairman of the Arizona Nanotechnology Cluster, began the Real Progress, Real Products themed symposium by introducing Dean Hermanson, interim VP of academic affairs at SCC. Dr. Hermanson welcomed everyone to the SCC campus before he introduced Scottsdale mayor Mary Manross who in turn welcomed attendees to Scottsdale. Matt Kim presented plaques to Mary Manross and Dean Hermanson.
Dr. Wade Adams was the morning keynote speaker and his talk focused on using nanotechnology to help solve our looming energy issues. Dr. Adams -- who collaborated and was friends with Richard E. Smalley at Rice University -- advocates that young people should be a scientist, save the world!
The morning session was devoted to nanotechnology both in Arizona and internationally.
Donna Kent, president and CEO of the Arizona Technology Council, kicked off the afternoon session after a buffet lunch was served in SCC's Turquoise Room.
Patti Glaza of SmallTimes Magazine was the afternoon keynote speaker.
The afternoon session included sessions on the technology and finance of nanotechnology. The symposium concluded with a panel discussion about the business challenges of nanotechnology.
Arizona's Second Annual Nanotechnology Symposium was well attended and it had solid sponsorship. Raytheon was a Gold Sponsor and there were multiple Silver sponsors (Canada, Medtronic, Snell & Wilmer and Scottsdale Community College). [Intel was a Copper sponsor and "Friend" sponsors included Advotech, MJS Designs, Motorola, Grant Thorton LLP and SRP.]
